Noodle is growing up and launching an exciting new performing arts academy for older children.
All our existing classes will continue as normal but from January there will be new weekly sessions for young people who want to study theatre arts in more depth. NPA Academy is aimed at children in Year 3 at primary school right up to the age of 18.
In a weekly two-hour class, students will learn theatre dance, singing and drama with termly topics and regular performances. NPA Academy will offer children the chance to develop their skills further and is ideal for those with a passion for performing.
NPA Academy will operate alongside Noodle Performance Arts, which offers a fun and informal way for children from walking age upwards to learn dance and performing arts in Sheffield and Rotherham.
Noodle founder and managing director Nikki Johnson said: “NPA Academy will be a bit like Noodle’s older and slightly more serious sister. Although our NPA Academy classes will still be fun and enjoyable, they will offer more in-depth training to children who want to take their talent to the next level.
“They are ideal for young people who want to gain more performing experience and are perhaps looking at acting, dancing or singing as a potential career when they are older.”
Affordable alternative to rival stage schools
The two-hour NPA Academy classes will be £10 each, making them a more affordable alternative to traditional theatre schools. The first sessions will be held between 4.30pm and 6.30pm on Fridays in term-time at Beighton Lifestyle Centre in Beighton, Sheffield.
Nikki said: “One of our key aims in setting up NPA Academy was to offer classes which give young people a thorough grounding in musical theatre but are still affordable. We know it can be challenging for parents to find the money for traditional theatre schools so we wanted to offer exceptional performing arts training at a competitive price.”
Pupils will spend one hour a week learning theatre dance and another hour concentrating on drama and singing. As well as learning scripts, musical numbers and dance routines, they will take part in improvisation exercises and given regular opportunities to perform.
