MEET THE….Noodle teacher
At Noodle Performance Arts, we all work together to make magic happen, whether you are one of our talented students, their parent or a member of the Noodle team.
Our ‘Meet the…’ series of blog posts aims to introduce you to just some of the people who are part of our Noodle family. This week, we’re meeting Laura Knaggs, one of our class teachers who works in the Stocksbridge area.
Laura teaches both performing arts and dance to children from walking age all the way up to 16 years old. She first joined the team in March 2018, initially as a dance teacher before taking on more classes.
She says: “I like the emphasis on fun and friendship. We learn and play equally in classes.
“The biggest challenge is trying to get everything we love into the year! When musicals like the Greatest Showman hit, they are a game changer and we need to be ready to adapt our program to keep up to date with what our students love (although don’t tell them Baby Shark is about 10 years old).”
Since joining Noodle, Laura has loved seeing the children in her classes discover a passion for performing and develop new skills.
She says: “The greatest reward is seeing a student’s face light up as we sing their favourite song or read their best bit from Hairspray. I also love to bring something new to the table such as panto or physical theatre to explore areas my guys might like but don’t even know yet.”
Laura’s Noodle highlight so far has been running workshops based on The Greatest Showman.
She says: “I loved doing workshops on the Greatest Showman. I’ve also loved hearing some of my excellent singers.
“It is such a pleasure to work with such talented young people and help them grow. I am very proud to be part of a great team both professionally and with the children I work with.
“I never thought you could have fun every day at work but I certainly do.”
