Family shows to watch in Cheshire this Christmas

At Noodle Performance Arts, we believe learning to perform is a fantastic way of giving children new skills and boosting their confidence. But young people can also get a lot out of watching other people on the stage.

Going to shows encourages a child’s imagination, strengthens their communication skills and improves their attention span. Christmas is the ideal time to introduce young children to the theatre with lots of family-friendly productions to choose from.

Here is our round-up of some of the productions you can catch in Cheshire this festive season:

  1. Jack and the Beanstalk, Lyceum Theatre, Crewe, December 14 to January 6

Comedy legends Cannon and Ball will be starring alongside Britain’s Got Talent winner George Sampson in this family favourite.   1. Dear Santa, Lyceum Theatre, Crewe, December 1 and 2

Small children can get into the Christmas spirit early with Dear Santa – a story from Rod Campbell, creator of the children’s classic Dear Zoo. In this 55-minute show, which is suitable for children aged between two and seven, Santa tries to find the right present for Sarah with the help of his cheeky elf.   1. Dick Whittington, The Grange Theatre, Hartford, December 17 to January 1

  1. The Wizard of Oz, Storyhouse, Chester, December 7 to January 6

This Christmas, we’re following the yellow brick road to Chester for this year’s festive production of the Wizard of Oz. The classic musical featuring Dorothy, the scarecrow, the tin man and the cowardly lion is much-loved by audiences of all ages. Book onlineor call 01244 409113.

 

  1. Sleeping Beauty, Stockport Plaza, November 30 to January 6

The classic fairytale Sleeping Beauty will be given a comic twist in this year’s pantomime at Stockport Plaza. The cast will include Ted Robbins, from Peter Kay’s Phoenix Nights, and soap star Claire King, best known for playing Kim Tate in Emmerdale.
