Who are LAMDA lessons suitable for?
Lessons are suitable for children and young people with all levels of experience. LAMDA’s Introductory exams are ideal for younger learners, usually from around age five, while older students can work through the graded qualifications.
We will recommend the most suitable starting point for each student.
What LAMDA qualifications can students take?
LAMDA offers qualifications in a range of performance and communication subjects. The most appropriate option will depend on the student’s age, interests, experience and personal goals.
We will discuss the available options with you before lessons begin.
Are lessons private or group-based?
Students can have individual tuition or learn in a small group.
Private lessons are tailored entirely to the individual student. Small groups will contain learners of a similar age who are working at a compatible level.
Are lessons available online?
Yes. Lessons are available both online and in person in Sheffield.
Online tuition offers the same individual preparation and support and may be particularly convenient for students who live further away or need greater flexibility.
Can the examination be taken online?
LAMDA examinations are available both in person and online. Both formats are assessed according to the same standards and lead to the same qualification.
We will help families choose the most suitable format and guide them through the entry process.
What happens during the lessons?
Lesson content will depend on the qualification, but may include learning and interpreting performance pieces, developing vocal technique, building characterisation, improving communication skills and preparing for questions from the examiner.
Students will receive focused tuition, constructive feedback and plenty of encouragement.
Does my child have to take an exam?
No. LAMDA tuition is an optional additional opportunity for students who would enjoy working towards a personal goal.
We want the experience to be positive and rewarding, so students will only be entered for an examination when they are ready.
How much do lessons cost?
The cost will depend on whether the student chooses private or small-group tuition and the length and format of the lesson.
