Five frighteningly good things to do in Cheshire in October half term
- Roll up, roll up for the greatest show…in Altrincham!
Run away and join the circus for the day at this half term holiday club inspired by the musical blockbuster The Greatest Showman. It might not include Hugh Jackman but this six-hour workshop is bursting with fun, including circus skills and performing arts activities based on songs and dances from the film. Running from 9.30am to 3.30pm on Wednesday, October 24, the session will end with a short performance for family and friends. The holiday club is being run by Noodle Knutsford and is back by popular demand after a sell-out summer session. - Dare to visit a haunted hall
Take a spine-tingling tour of one of the most haunted buildings in Britain by visiting Tatton Park this Halloween. Children (and grown-ups) are encouraged to dig out the fancy dress and take part in a special trail to find ingredients for a magical potion. Other activities include spooky storytelling, ghastly games, freaky fairground rides and making a Halloween head bopper. The event runs from 11am to 4pm from Saturday, October 27 to Wednesday, October 31. Tickets are £13 for adults and £7 for children.
- Dress up for a wicked workshop
Keep your little terrors entertained at Noodle Knutsford’s Halloween Holiday Workshop on Wednesday, October 31. Youngsters will brush up on their performing arts skills and play ghoulish games. Suitable for children aged between four and 14, the session will run from 9am to 4pm at The Venue in Gadbrook Road, Northwich. At the end, there will be a petrifying performance for parents, if they dare to watch it! Fancy dress is optional but very welcome. Places are £25 and £20 for any additional siblings. - Follow in the footsteps of zombie pirates
Find the hidden items left behind by a zombie pirate on this terrifying trail at Blakemere Village. Children are encouraged to dress up as pirates to complete the challenge between 10am and 5pm from October 20 to November 4. Every child who successfully completes the trail form will win a prize. - Carve a pumpkin at Cacklewood
Children can head on a lantern-lit walk through the forest, have a go at pumpkin carving and get spooked by ghost stories at Cacklewood, a Halloween attraction at Yarwood Heath Farm, Altrincham. Activities also include slime making, a trick or treat trail and a spooky panto. The attraction is open from Tuesday, October 23 to Sunday, October 28.
