When it comes to picking ballet classes for your child, it can be difficult to know which ones to choose.
The first things you will probably look for are classes at a time and venue which suits you. But if there are still several options which work, then it comes down to choosing which provider is right for you and your child.
At Noodle Performance Arts, we believe we offer something different to traditional ballet schools. Our focus is on having fun and teaching children in a way which builds their confidence and self-esteem.
Here are our top six reasons why we think you should consider ballet classes with Noodle:
- Informal approach
Lots of adults who studied ballet as a child remember their teachers being very strict and even a little bit scary. Learning ballet does require discipline but the most important thing to us is that children enjoy coming to our classes. As well as being fully trained and insured, our teachers are friendly and take a gentle approach to introducing children to dancing with fun props and activities.
- No expensive uniform
Some dance schools expect pupils to wear a compulsory uniform to classes and this can work out expensive. At Noodle classes, your child can wear anything they like so long as it is comfortable and they can move freely. Many of our little Noodlers do choose to wear balletwear but this is up to them and they can choose their own clothing. We don’t even insist on ballet shoes – bare feet is fine. This means you don’t have to invest in balletwear unless you want to. The only time we will ask you to pay for costumes is if your child is performing in one of our shows and we try our best to keep costs down and choose outfits which could be worn for classes after the performance.
- No exam pressure
At Noodle, the main purpose of our classes is having fun so we introduce ballet positions and movements in a no-pressure atmosphere where the end result is enjoying being able to dance with friends. Many children find the idea of formal ballet exams nerve-wracking so we don’t do them as a part of Noodle classes. Of course, our pupils are still constantly learning new skills and improving their technique, they just aren’t being tested on it.
- Affordable fees
We know how expensive having children is and the cost of after-school activities can quickly add up. At Noodle, we always try our best to keep the price of our classes affordable so they are accessible to as many families as possible. Our class fees are highly competitive and as there are no compulsory exam fees or uniform costs, our lessons work out significantly cheaper than those offered by many traditional ballet schools.
- Awesome shows
Anyone who has ever taken part in one of our shows will tell you how much fun they are. This year we have had to put our productions on hold due to Covid-19 but usually we offer our students regular opportunities to perform in front of an audience. However, we’re also aware that not everyone enjoys the spotlight so our shows are completely optional and children can choose not to take part if they prefer.
- Lessons which start from walking age
Many dance schools won’t accept children until they are at least three, which can lead to some very disappointed little ones. Our Ballet Tots classes are suitable for toddlers from the moment they can walk confidently. Using songs, music, activities and props, children as young as one start learning the basics of ballet. This is fantastic for developing their strength, co-ordination and gross motor skills and as it is a group activity, our classes benefit your toddler’s social skills and help them get used to following simple instructions.
